Despite only having been together as a band for about six months, things are already kicking off for London duo AlunaGeorge. Mr George Reid and Miss Aluna Francis met online and began discussing music whilst both working on their respective projects. After demos and ideas had been flung backwards and forwards via email, the two of them realised that they were a musical match made in heaven and that they had no choice but to fill the world with their brilliance.

With dubstep/RnB production techniques and stuttering electronic rhythms combined with Aluna’s delightfully sweet, breathy vocals, genres are traversed quite beautifully. The precious few singles that the band have already released into the wild have a definite pop undertone, however ‘Body Music’, a favourite of ours, has an almost Bibio quality to it that works brilliantly. Another standout track is ‘We Are Chosen’ - their debut single, and a great synthy, ambient number.

This Saturday night, AlunaGeorge will be bringing musical joy to folks at The Nest in Dalston along with the likes of Cocknbullkid and Iconapop, and we’re certainly looking forward to checking out their live performance. Having already caught the attention of Radio 1 DJs such as Rob Da Bank, and with a whole host of other gigs and festivals lined up for the summer, AlunaGeorge are surely destined for success.
