Mix #29: Years & Years

Features Mix #29: Years & Years

London trio Years & Years have been working at their own genre-meshing electronic pop for a couple of years now, but it wasn’t until the release of ‘Real’ last year that heads began to turn in unison. Now the Olly Alexander-led group have just inked a major label deal, with plans afoot to release a debut album before the end of the year. For their exclusive mix on DIY, they’ve called the thing ‘Soulflé’, which is a nice touch that sums up their sweet (dessert-like, clearly) take on things. Check out Years & Years’ exclusive mix below, alongside a description provided by the band themselves.

‘Soul comes in many shapes and sizes. It can be hard to keep up with what soul is doing these days. Is it new or future? Chill or ambient? What do any of these words mean anyway? Whatever - all that matters is that you listen to a song and respond by going ‘Oh, I have a soul’. That’s basically my marker for all music that I like. Here’s a playlist of new music to make your soul vibrate and maybe dance around a bit. Thankyou soul.’
