Olly Alexander shares latest ‘Polari’ preview ‘Archangel’
The ’80s-tinged track is the third single to be lifted from Olly’s first solo album under his own name.

Olly Alexander - formerly of Years & Years - has unveiled another shimmering synth-pop offering, ‘Archangel’, having recently released previous singles ‘Cupid’s Bow’ and ‘Polari’.
All three tracks are taken from Olly’s forthcoming album (also called ‘Polari’, and due out on 7th February 2025) - a record which will be the chart stalwart’s first full-length under his own name, and which promises to explore notions of community and identity through the prism of pop history.
Speaking about the concept behind ‘Archangel”s ’80s-influenced dance-pop, Olly has explained that “this is a song about how an angel saved me at my darkest moment. I don’t mean a mythical angel (or do I?) but rather someone in my life who picked me up when I was down. I’m really grateful to him, and to all the other angels (divine and non divine) who I’ve encountered along the way.”
Continuing, he has shared: “I loved making this song with my musical partner Danny L Harle, our goal was to create something that sounded eternally optimistic, redemptive and like anything is possible. This is such a special song for me and I’m really happy to be putting it out and to show another side to ‘Polari’.”
