Liquid football Eat my goal: Swim Deep, Gengahr and more give their hopes for the 2015/16 football season
Potential champions or relegation slumberers - everyone has their beloved team. We asked some of our favourite acts for their take on the new season.
The first week of fixtures have taken place. Whether this year’s favourites took the three points or fell flat on their championship hopes at the first hurdle, everything’s still up in the air for the new football season. Nothing is certain, with the exception that Piers Morgan is already safely in the first phase of his yearly, football-induced self-combustion.
Chances are most football fans spent the past weekend glued to a television screen, hopelessly trying to figure out why they convinced themselves this could be ‘our year’. Either that, or they spent the weekend like any other - touring. Bands probably end up missing most fixtures due to commitments, but that doesn’t stop them from being just as emotionally invested as a season ticket holder with their hopes and dreams fading out before their eyes, week-in, week-out.
With everything kicking off this month, we tracked down some of our favourite bands to get their take on the 2015/16 season. We also asked them to dish out ‘classic football banter’ to rival teams, but some of them were more polite than others.
