Few festivals are brave enough to bandy around comparisons to Glastonbury, but not Eurockéennes.
Few festivals are brave enough to bandy around comparisons to Glastonbury, but not Eurockéennes. Set to kick off this weekend (4th-6th July) ‘The French Glasto’ is its tagline, and putting on a non-profit festival that puts music before busting everyone’s wallet is the chief aim. A three-day ticket will set you back just €105 - just under £84 in Sterling - leaving more funds available for essentials such as cultural enrichment, healthy organic food supplies, and, erm, beer.
Eurockéennes is based near Belfort in Eastern France, on the Peninsula Malsaucy; surely the best name for a peninsula, ever. Its water-surrounded setting for could easily pass as a mysterious and extremely noisy self-enclosed town on a bonus level of Pokemon Gold. A tonne of acts will be making the journey out to Eurockéennes, too, with the festival’s focus being on new music. Recent DIY cover stars Jungle are playing this Saturday, with MØ, Drenge, and Bondax joining them on the bill. That’s just for starters; the line-up also includes Pixies, Metronomy, M.I.A, Biffy Clyro, and many more artists. Take a look at the full line-up here.
