Neu Forrests Tip: Solar Bears & Whirling Hall Of Knives
Irish production duo name their two favourite new acts for Neu.
Ireland production duo Forrests are part of an electronic scene that’s in seriously rude health. With themselves, Reid and Mmoths acting as bands at the forefront of the country’s recent bloom, surrounding them is an endless amount of forward-thinking newcomers. When DIY’s Laura Eley spoke to Paul O’ Reilly and Owen O’ Mahony about their own background, they also had time to chip in about some of Ireland’s most promising new acts who they’re working closely alongside.
Solar Bears
Solar Bears
are friends of ours actually and the couple of albums they’ve had out are absolutely amazing- and there’s so many acts out there like them now. For a small enough city I think it’s punching above its weight a bit, especially in the last few years with electronic music.
Whirling Hall of Knives
I also met a guy the other day actually who makes really unusual stuff – it’s him and another guy and they go by the name ‘Whirling Hall Of Knives.’ I actually swapped a pedal with him, we met completely randomly but I thought ‘wow, this guy’s stuff is amazing.’
