THE GIG
MØ, Forrests, Ofei - London, Cargo
A vibrant, dynamic mix of some of our biggest Neu favourites. First you’ve Karen Marie Ørsted (pictured, above) headlining, with mysterious Londoner Ofei and Irish production duo Forrests completing one of the best bills we’ve seen on paper for yonks.
THE SONG
Cambio Sun - Intuition
Australian Charlie Tait could only exist as a musician, making songs like ‘Intuition’, right now. Every drawn out guitar line, muted note that forms the backdrop, is the result of a cut-copy approach, defined by the digital. Its warming opening graduates into a build worthy of club festival tents, a 4am-ready swansong for every summer night’s party playlist. It’s the calm after the storm, the moment of reflection that follows a night of hedonism.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
SEAGULLINVASION - Bonkers EP
Bonkers by SEAGULLINVASION
This one was recommended by Foxygen, who, let’s face it, probably don’t spend their time surrounded by moody folk or sappy songwriting. They like a turn for the insane, a rabid production style such as this suiting the mood perfectly. The ‘Bonkers’ EP doesn’t shirk from its position, by name or in nature. One of the looniest releases of the year to date, and all the better for it.
