We interviewed Klaxons’ Simon Taylor-Davis a few weeks ago, and took the chance to quiz him on the band’s appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds festival and related items. Klaxons headline the NME/Radio 1 stage on Sunday in Reading and Saturday in Leeds.
Are you looking forward to your appearance at Reading and Leeds?
I can’t wait. Absolutely can’t wait. I was thinking about it yesterday, how many mind-blowing shows I’ve seen there, from Ikara Colt in 2000 having this mega stage invasion, and Interpol’s set, in the Carling tent, also British Sea Power which is still one of my favourite shows ever.

I don’t think we do this time, I hope not. Maybe we do. I hope we don’t, that’d be heartbreaking.
But, just seeing so many gigs, playing in a band, this is one of those things which inspires you to do it, so yeah I’m really excited, a bit nervous about it, actually, it’s quite a big deal. It’s got such a personal history, that was the one which me and James used to go to when we were 16 together, so we’ve a lot of fond memories.
I really like walking around the campsite there, it’s just lunacy. It’s a big campsite, it’s a good, fun campsite, always people laying in the middle of the path giving you cider out of a bag on a string, a lot of weird things going on. It’s gonna be great. I love this festival, absolutely love it. It’ll be so much fun.
