London trio Real Lies are just the type of group that play out once and immediately leave an indelible impression. Signing with Marathon Artists’ (Jagwar Ma/Childhood) latest imprint Sweet Exile, the group last week shared their latest video for ‘World Peace’, which is released as a double a-side in tandem with their July offering, ‘Deeper’. Listening to the tracks, it would be safe to predict Real Lies have previewed the sounds of 2014’s packed festival tents. Like Jagwar Ma before them, their sound marries both tropes of rock and electronica and such sincerity works in their favour.

A backwards looking single in the present, ‘World Peace’ is euphoric synth-led pop on a large and ambitious scale. The female harmony that pervades the track’s melody, creates and encompasses a touch of the balearic in the swoops and delves of the rhythmic lead vocals. Whether the group succeeded in leaving the metropole or not, their time has not been wasted. The introspective gloom and dourness of city life is replaced by beach sunsets and ecstasy, with downtempo and washing synths complementing the hedonistic lyrics - ‘Deeper’s urban vignettes delivered via melodic electro grooves is both charming and witty.
