If there’s one act playing this year’s Great Escape Festival that might wriggle under the clutches of those attempting to see every star of the future, it’s Roosevelt. Last year’s ‘Sea’ single on Greco-Roman (Disclosure, Baio) received a good deal of acclaim, though not of the heights usually reserved for such starry-eyed electronica.

You sense Marius Lauber’s time is still to come. A touring schedule riding on the coattails of ‘Sea’ hasn’t shown any sign of coming to a halt, and the newly unveiled ‘Around You’ builds on the debut’s success and previews a forthcoming release. Think Washed Out with greater lifespan, a bolder willingness to dive into the ocean rather than ride the (chill)waves. Screw that. It’s not chillwave. It’s a much firmer, more explorative expression of escapism than that.
