News Soundtrack: Sea Of Bees

Following her critically acclaimed debut swiftly with her latest LP ‘Orangefarben’, which features a cover of John Denver’s ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’, we asked Julie Ann Baenziger aka Sea Of Bees to put us together a few of the tracks she’s been listening to of late. Described by Jules as a classic break up record, ‘Orangefarben’ (meaning literally the colour of orange in German) was produced by long term collaborator John Baccigaluppi, and will see her on the road this spring with a full band in tow.

This song I can listen to over and over. It makes me feel warm and at home… even when I am not home. It makes me crave for comfort and warmth.

The Antlers- Two
I love the number two and I love The Antlers. Something so simple in this song it feels like the sun after the rain..I can listen to this song anytime and enjoy it.



Seawolf - You’re A Wolf
I have seen a few pictures of the studio house in the woods where these guys record and I feel connected to this song and to the artist. The beat in the song is my groove. I feel like a wolf, different and fierce.. so this is one of my power songs.

Silversun Pickups- Lazy Eye
I go back to the past most times and remember the memories hooked with certain songs.. this is one of them.. I was just starting to get into music and I was watching VH1. And I saw this video. This song never gets old to me.

The Bees- I Really Need Love
Makes me feel like summer, I look forward to swimming in the river in Sacramento. This song is sitting with friends having a good time, enjoying the simple life. Paul from The Bees is a genius…



Florence & The Machine - Cosmic love
I can sit in my room writing to this song. It’s fiery. I feel like something beautiful is raining around me.. like inspiration to write…It’s really a powerful song.

Lana Del Rey- Born To Die
Something about her voice, I dig it.



Cults- Abducted
The sound is addictive.. I sit in my room sometimes and just get it.. I feel high and want to bob my head to the beat.



Zoo Kid- Out Getting Ribs
It’s simple, I listen to this on my walks and look around… This song has style and simplicity. I can’t get enough of him.

Devlin- Running Away
When I am driving I roll down the windows and play Devlin, this song is my favourite of his.



Katy Perry- The One That Got Away
This song is like having chocolate, I don’t listen to it that much. But when I do. I absolutely dance to this.. this is my song!



Gotye- Somebody I Used To Know
GOD… This song is so crazy - it is like a spell it sticks in my head all day long!
