THE GIG
Jungle - London, Chats Palace
Following a handful of capital-shunning shows across the country, elusive collective JUNGLE finally arrive in London, proving their BBC Sound Of credentials with a showcase of mist-drenched funk pop.
THE BIG NEU THING
dd elle - a note
If Jai Paul has a habit of battering down the hatches of pop music and luring out convention into a pit of distorted hell, dd elle is an even stranger creature. Like a Casio keyboard demo raised on a diet of Twin Peaks and kids’ tv show soundtracks, it’s a giddy, gooey but ultimately unplaceable song that eventually sinks into a sleepy flow of India-rooted rhythms and light congas. Oddities are at the centre of ‘a note’. In fact they never leave.
