THE GIGS
Teleman - London, The Boston Arms

Still brimming from previous single ‘Steam Train Girl”s success, the wit-addled Teleman are being spoken about in some quarters as a big name for 2014. Catch them while they’re hot property.

Dig - London, George Tavern

There’s also the small matter of ridiculously exciting band Dig’s debut show. Their 90s channelling approach is bound to soundtrack 2014 - why not start early?

JUNGLE - Manchester Roadhouse

Or if you’re in Manchester there’s this: The debut show from London ‘collective’ JUNGLE, signed to Chess Club and arguably the most talked-about new act in the UK right now. Blimey.

THE SONG
Dream Attics - Like A Pretty Song
Like a Pretty Song by Dream Attics

In turn coining the most fitting term for their debut track, Dream Attics have made quite the entrance. The Milwaukee duo’s first work is a sweet-natured number, all handclaps and squeaky synth clicks. ‘Like A Pretty Song’ absorbs all the immediacy of Vampire Weekend side-project Discovery and takes off on some wild adventures of its own. The end result is a gorgeous crossover between Passion Pit and charming ol’ Ezra Koenig - stunning.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
F A N S - Another Way
E.P. by F A N S

FANS’ debut EP was recorded with Matt Peel (Pulled Apart By Horses, Eagulls), which lends their music some serious heavyweight blows. Simple on the outside - think The Vaccines with more of an Alex Turner-style Elvis-adopting croon - but with tons of clever riffs up its sleeve, ‘Another Way’ is one triumphant debut, shunning chin-stroking interchange for something direct. It’s a smart move.
