Wall, 9Mary - London, Bush Hall

Two of the UK’s most exciting songwriters root themselves in a suitably beautiful venue tonight. We profiled support act 9Mary last year when she’d only a handful of videos with an eerie-like quality to her name. Flo Morrissey, who’s taking her time with this inevitable rise, spins conventional folk on its sorry head. WALL’s in this month’s magazine, meanwhile, on the back of her excellent new ‘Shoestring’ EP.

Older Tides EP by Maple & Beech

There’s hitting the jackpot and then there’s going one step further. The opening track on Minnesota group Maple & Beach’s new EP is fine on its own, a gorgeous welcoming in of a track. Lines about Science being ‘eerie’ might make little to no sense, but it’s the bewildering, head-spinning production that seizes the agenda. ‘Inside I’m feeling dirty’, goes the chorus. Me too, Young Fathers. Me too.
