New music guide The Neu Bulletin (11th February 2015)

DIY’s daily new music tips, featuring Ex’s and Deckan/Mckenna.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to.Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Ex’s, Goddamn Nobody

London, The Social

A couple of weeks back, Ex’s announced themselves as a distorted force, romance-led tracks being delivered in spades. Tonight sees the North London group playing their first ever headline show, with Goddamn Nobody set to support. Expect this to be a grubby introduction.

THE BIG NEU THING:
Declan/McKenna - BRAZIL

Declan McKenna is a 16 year old, sharp-witted shock to the system. Based in Easts Herts, London, ‘BRAZIL’’s the finest example of his cutting craft, one that checks in with festival tent-filling giants without overdoing the sentiment. He cites Django Django and The Black Keys as influences, but his music winds up sounding like this shore’s instant answer to Courtney Barnett.
