Master Peace and Declan McKenna are joyfully nihilistic on new joint single 'Fuck It Up'

Master Peace has joined forces with fellow indie kid Declan McKenna to deliver ‘Fuck It Up’, a new collab which sees the pair embrace imperfection and be unapologetically themselves. As Peace sings in its opening line: “ADHD got a hold on me / Underqualified with no degree”.

Landing ahead of Peace’s next EP ‘Stupid Kids’ - which hits shelves on 27th February - the single was born out of a desire to “let kids know they don’t need to feel ashamed or embarrassed about messing up, and that we’re all in it together.”

Continuing, he explains: “We’re all fuck-ups in one way or another. This idea that everyone has to be perfect, that we’re not allowed to grow and learn, just isn’t human to me. We’re constantly evolving, and I wanted to get across that it’s okay to get it wrong sometimes.

“Declan came in and added his own take on what the song meant to him, and it turned into something I’m really proud of. It felt like me tearing off that ‘perfect musician’ skin and showing a kind of vulnerability I’ve never really expressed in my music before.”

‘Fuck It Up’ is the latest in a string of singles for Peace, including last year’s ‘Spin The Block’ and ‘There’s No More Underground’, while we last heard from ‘Ar Dec in 2024 when he dropped third album ‘What Happened To The Beach?’
