Adolescent - London, Old Blue Last


Post-releasing his fantastic ‘Golden Halls’ EP (premiered last week on DIY), Alex Parish makes a special London appearance to help launch his first work, which fuses abstract productions with pop songwriting chops.

THE BIG NEU THING
Luca Del George - Myshkin


It’s a big claim, sort-of naming yourself after Lana Del Rey. But Glasgow producer Luca George has creds to back up his intentions. Creeping, queasy vocals - like an under-the-ether version of Jai Paul - dominate the frame. Synths sound like the darkest thoughts of Metronomy’s Joseph Mount put to tape, like plastic toys splintering off and forming their own supergroup. Playful and brilliantly tongue-in-cheek, ‘Myshkin’ certainly isn’t ‘Video Games’, but that’s a good thing.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Apothek - Family


Dripping with gloppy electronic tidbits and a whole chunk of invention, Oslo duo Apothek’s debut single ‘Family’ is like peering through the looking glass to scientists in the midst of their trade. If the cooks in Breaking Bad conjured up music while busying themselves with the money-making meth, they’d probably make something like this. And so it proves - in the video for the single, there’s plant-growing labroratory exercises that match up nicely with ‘Family’’s sweet oddities. We’ve got the first play, below.
