Word’s gotten round on Laura Welsh’s studio prowess - working alongside Dev Hynes and Rhye’s Robin Hannibal, to name a couple - but this is the first real showcase of her live game, launching the ‘Cold Front’ single in London’s Covent Garden.

Why complain about muffled recordings? Not least when they’re labelled as ‘demos’. There’s actually a lot of fun in imagining rough versions in a fuller form - that’s just about half the magic of finding new music from little-known bands such as SUN STRIPES. ‘I’m Here’ might sound distinctly like it’s coming from another room - maybe through a couple of walls, if we’re being generous - but that doesn’t hold it back from being a gorgeously carefree introduction.

Lido Deck - The Queen And Parliament


British elites get their dancing shoes on. Lido Deck is the new project from US producer Hashknife, which specialises in jarring dark-wave. This, on the other hand, is a ferocious collection of skittering electronic cuts, where sounds bounce off the proverbial walls into some wild outerspace. All the bass-heavy tracks unveiled to date are available as free downloads, and there’s enough to suggest they’ll be the first of many.
