DIY recommends new music from Theo Verney, Loomis and Dorsal Fins.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

THE GIG:
Theo Verney, GANG, Kancho! - London, The Old Blue Last (DIY Presents)
New music excitement doesn’t stop at DIY’s ‘Hello 2015’ showcases, this month. We’re also hosting Theo Verney tomorrow night (17th January), the Brighton fuzz-addict being joined by GANG and Kancho!. Apparently Verney’s just discovered how to sound like U2, so expect the Old Blue Last to be converted into a 40,000 capacity stadium by tomorrow night. Free entry.
THE BIG NEU THING:
Dorsal Fins - Mind Renovation
Earlier this week, the world got duped (once again) into thinking The Avalanches had returned after a fourteen-year-silence. Things got back to normal fairly quickly, but the thirst for breakneck speed, beaming-smile’d pop remains. Fellow Aussies Dorsal Fins fill that void nicely with ‘Mind Renovation’, a new single that puts the Melbourne group firmly on the map. Think Jagwar Ma with slightly more acidic sweets in their bellies.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS:
LOOMIS - Dyes
It’s been a year since LA rapper LOOMIS first struck a chord, his disjointed, synth-led hip-hop finding a space in the conscience thanks to ‘Look’. Time’s been taken on a follow-up, but the finnoh-featuring ‘Dyes’ hits the spot. “If you’re not looking you won’t see it there,” he laments while projecting his frustrations about love, in a track dating back to 2013. Behind me, every bold jerk of instrumentation sounds like it’s on the brink of chaos.
