THE GIG
Joanna Gruesome - London, Shacklewell Arms

Things are beginning to come the way of Joanna Gruesome. After years of sweaty shows and rough-edged recordings their debut album feels like the beginning of something special. With Playlounge and Trust Fund in support, expect the Shacklewell to play host to a tight-knit scene starting to see its cast taking off for bigger things.

THE SONG
Last Heir - Monkey Heart

A flooded idyllic location in Wales is a pretty symbolic confirmation that festival season is over. Beat it, kids.

Still, that doesn’t leave giant stages and waving flags outside of the conscience. When a band like Last Heir leaps onto the scene and sports songs this bloody gigantic, the pipe-dreams set in motion and all you can think about is these songs soundtracking crowds in their plucky thousands. You wouldn’t bet against Last Heir going bloody massive.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Gossip Culture - The Actress

After Pharrell Williams failed to get lucky (and let’s face it, that’s a rare occasion), he’ll move on, brush the dirt off his shoulder and retire for the night. After a customary two hours sleep, he’ll likely wake up with a new conviction. Off to the local LA theatre he’ll turn, to check out ‘The Actress’. Love soon follows. What was all that getting lucky lark about, he’ll ask himself. Gossip Culture soundtracks Pharrell’s ‘growing up’ phase with such detail you become fully convinced the ‘Hollywood dream’ is playing out before your very eyes.
