Features The Neu Bulletin (17th February 2014)
Neu’s daily new music guide, featuring The Preatures and Sonia Stein.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.
THE GIG
The Preatures - London, Water Rats
These Aussie nostalgia pop specialists just unveiled their new single ‘Better Than It Ever Could Be’, proving they’ve got shiny hip-shaking singles in spades. Tonight’s show will be a blazing showcase of what’s come before and what’s just around the corner
THE BIG NEU THING
Sonia Stein - Demented Mind
There’s a wicked dilemma swishing round London singer Sonia Stein’s latest track (her second to date). “You mean nothing to me,” she’s quick to claim, before going “I want to mean everything to you.” She’s fretting about being someone’s favourite person, basically. ‘Demented’ might be a tad harsh as terms go, but perhaps a hint of madness has given ‘Demented Mind’ the boost it needs.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Cuddle Formation - the last weekend of the year
Prolific LA songwriter Noah Klein gives the game away that we’re a little late to this sweet, bedroom-formed giveaway, which came out at the very end of 2013. The title points to the fact. Still, this is the kind of song that could rear its head at any moment and have the same, huge effect.
