Features The Neu Bulletin (17th October 2012)

Fidlar and King Krule are the choice recommendations in today’s guide to all things new music, live and plugged in.

Neu’s got you covered for new music recommendations and nights out this week. Each day we’ll give you a choice gig, plus a selection of fresh artists to check out.

THE GIG
Archy (pictured, above) halts his stratospheric rise Stateside and plays a little closer to home tonight. Better known as King Krule, even without a debut album to his name he’s probably one of the bigger names to grace Manchester’s Soup Kitchen this year. His recent ‘Rock Bottom/Octupus’ single has shed light on a songwriter with infinite potential - expect a busy crowd and a grand sense of occasion.

King Krule plays Manchester’s Soup Kitchen, tonight.

THE SONG Well hello there, Areca Grove. You sound like you come from the sun-kissed Californian coast or some grimy basement in Brooklyn, but East London is your port of call and you’ve evidently spent the past six or seven months consuming DIIV’s debut album and constructing similarly zippy, heady guitar riffs. Neu’s already expressed a fondness for these guys but ‘Trees’ takes things to another level entirely. It’s taken from a free EP release (‘First Tape’), available to listen to here.

FURTHER NEU BUSINESS
From one delightfully grubby corner to another, as Fidlar continue to do things DIY and by the ‘prolific slacker’ rulebook (if such a thing exists, we’d love a copy). Their ‘Shit We Recorded In A Bedroom’ EP is preview of a 2013 full-length, one that’s sure to soundtrack every regrettable late-night drinking session from age 15 and above.
