THE GIG
Fun Adults & Cymbals - Brighton Green Door Store

Young, arty, inventive Leeds group Fun Adults are right up there with the more cemented Cymbals in spinning conventional pop on its sorry head. Cymbals’ recent ‘The Natural World’ track still earns repeated plays, and Fun Adults’ recent single through Tough Love has more than whet the appetite for future releases. Following last night’s London date, the two groups combine at Brighton’s Green Door Store.

THE SONG
Hearty Har - Elephant & The Mouse

Brothers Fogerty - Shane and Tyler - combine with Will Van Santen, Daniel Zuker and Ryan Bittan to form a band who place a true onus on old-fashioned songwriting, with live takes a regularity, with microphones up close. That only makes a song like ‘Elephant & The Mouse’ all the more illuminating, the LA group channelling glass-like guitar structures that shatter and spoil the traditionalism of their style, bringing futurism to the fore, grand ideas to the centre of their lively thinking.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Sunny - Rewind

The duo of Sean (Braves) and Pat (Lazy Lambs) hail from Perth and first released music under the name Sunny at the tail end of last year. Although the tracks were promising, their latest track ‘Rewind’ is a massive progression. It proves to be the kind of music that would perfectly compliment a time lapse video of a picturesque beach glowing in glorious colours. The layers of warm melodies are so irresistible you won’t be able to help yourself from accidentally singing the end refrain out loud, regardless of the strangers in your proximity [Sam Cornforth].
