The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Real Lies

London, Location TBA

Tonight sees genre-merging London trio Real Lies playing their first show in a good while. It’s taking place in a secret location, based somewhere in the capital. To guarantee entry you need to email [email protected] - chances are this’ll be going on into the early hours of Saturday morning.

THE BIG NEU THING:
Pale Honey - Youth

Pale Honey are tricky to pin down. The Gothenburg duo of Tuva Lodmark and Nelly Daltrey make brutally minimal rock that’s prone to the odd fit of rage. Using tinny drum machines as their platform, new track ‘Youth’ is a twisted take on heady fuzz that shows remarkable restraint for a first work. The duo play their first UK show at The Islington in London on 20th May.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS:
California Carpool - Lucid Dreamin’

California Carpool is fast becoming a regular on the Bulletin. His music - a muffled, emotionally frail take on dream pop - takes a while to make an impact. Sometimes it’s better to listen to a bunch of Isaac Ide’s tracks in a row. Together, they form something brutally miserable, but dressed in sweet escape. ‘Lucid Dreamin’’ is cold, squalid songwriting with two bare feet in the sea.
