News The Neu Bulletin (21st March 2014)
Neu’s weekend new music guide features JUNGLE, Ditt Inre and Harley Alexander.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.
THE GIG
Jungle - Bristol, Exchange
Nothing’s stopping Jungle in their path. That much is already clear. It’s still a month until the mammoth ‘Busy Earnin’’ invades the charts but let’s hear it for another sold out headline show, this time at Bristol Exchange. Recent Haim support slots have prepared these XL signings for much bigger venues, so catch ‘em while it’s still intimate.
THE BIG NEU THING
Ditt Inre - Formulär 1A (Yourhighness Epic Dub) [DIY Premiere]
Stockholm based duo Hampus Klint and Einar Andersson’s ‘Formulär 1A’ is a dream-centric, cloud-hopping take from the pair’s debut Ditt Inre album ‘Värd Mer Än Guld’ (out now on Cascine). This latest remix from Yourhighness ups the balearic stakes. If the original existed in its own dimension, this take sends it into a whole new galaxy altogether. Private islands could spring out of the sea to the sound of this song.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Harley Alexander - Scaredey Cats
Hailing from Harley Alexander’s debut album ‘Universal Love’, standout track ‘Scaredey Cats’ encapsulates the entire approach to the release. The album itself was self-released, glimmering in post-pop distinctiveness.
‘Scaredey Cats’ channels Alexander’s echoes of Mac Demarco, further proving musical quirkiness until there’s no wriggle-room. This is dreamy, mellowed out music of the highest order, built on jive-like grooves that don’t quit. [Bronte Martin]

4 Stars
More breezy bops than all-out summer smashes, but nevertheless extremely rich and warm in sound.
