New music guide The Neu Bulletin (22nd June 2015)

DIY’s new music tips, featuring Oscar, DREAM WIFE and Scary Movie Noah.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Oscar, Our Girl, Kero Kero Bonito (DJs)

London, The Black Heart

Tonight sees North Londoner Oscar celebrating the release of his new EP, ‘Beautiful Words’. The Wichita signing is fast becoming a staple for bright-eyed, emotion-tangling pop, and this EP cements him as more than just an exciting name for the future. Support comes from Our Girl, with the ace Kero Kero Bonito on decks.

THE BIG NEU THING:
DREAM WIFE - Believe

Believe the hype with DREAM WIFE, an Iceland via Brighton trio whose debut single brings ‘90s obsessions to new heights. In both aesthetic and sound, the trio of Rakel, Alice and Bella give the impression of pop phenomenons from the past, skewing the flavour into something more forward-thinking.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS:
Scary Movie Noah

Experimental bedroom producer Scary Movie Noah’s recordings creep out of the cracks. Instead of hogging attention or delivering soul-crushing hooks, the magic of the Canadian’s ‘Milkshake’ EP has a gradual impact. That doesn’t prevent it from warranting borderline-obsessive reactions, mind you.
