New music guide The Neu Bulletin (23rd March 2015)
DIY’s new music tips, featuring The Magic Gang and French band Talkie Walkie.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.
THE GIG: The Magic Gang, Crows (w/Wolf Alice)
They’ve barely scrubbed off the taco sauce stains from their SXSW trip - now today sees Wolf Alice taking to their biggest UK tour to date. It’s made even more of a big deal by this month’s supporting cast. Before Bloody Knees join the trip in Bristol, the first leg of Wolf Alice’s UK tour sees them joined by The Magic Gang and Crows, two of the best new bands you’ll find this side of planet earth.
Glasgow, Oran Mor
Let’s talk about Talkie Walkie. The Parisian’s debut single ‘Banshee’ is an instant, charm-crammed introduction, guitar lines (not unlike those of The Magic Gang, above, or early Mac DeMarco) swimming around in a fuzz-embracing storm. It’s taken from a debut album out this October.
