New music guide The Neu Bulletin (28th October 2014)
DIY’s delivery of new music tips, featuring JUCE and White Royal.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.
THE GIG:JUCE — London, Electrowerkz
Immediately after dropping the beckoning ‘6th Floor’, power-pop trio JUCE are headlining their biggest London show to date. Higher callings await - they play the O2, amongst other venues, when touring with Basement Jaxx next month. But for now their undeniably arena-ready singles make a neat fit for the Electrowerkz.
THE BIG NEU THING:White Royal — Be Terrestrial
Late night music for the odd characters, ‘Be Terrestrial’ is Leeds trio White Royal’s slickest sign to date than they’re formidable new faces in pop. Their distant, murky routine captures the strange depths of Massive Attack, while vocals soar and stir like on Aquilo’s early singles. Everything points to 2015 being a big year for them - they have a habit of making direct tracks that translate on several levels at once.
