New music guide The Neu Bulletin (2nd June 2014)

Today’s new music dose features The Acid and Ludwig Persik.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.

The Gig: The Acid - London, Cargo

Last time The Acid played London, it was their live debut. They brought with them one of the most ambitious visual projections, plus a neat batch of gradually evolving electronic tracks by way of debut album ‘Liminal’. With that record less than a month away, they play the venue right next door to the DIY office. We’ve got no excuse about not going - have you?

The Big Neu Thing:
Ludwig Persik - WILLOW

USSR-born, Manhattan-raised, Lugwig Persik is next in line to the oddball pop throne. His debut has been produced by Jamie Lidell, and ‘WILLOW’, the lead track, manically fuses Jai Paul-style bass wobbles with the kind of direct melodic knowhow many artists intentionally try to shun. This is a track that flies by with all the intention of getting outside of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Other Neu Business:
Lindsay Lowend - Ashtray

In a post to fans late last year, prolific DC producer Lindsay Lowend claimed he’d be taking a year-long break from sharing tracks in order to study music. That didn’t last too long. The 20-year-old is still sharing countless tracks, plus “intros” to songs that he’ll release later down the line. He’s all about sharing, and in ‘Ashtray’ he runs cheesy film dialogue samples with the kind of cutting production that hasn’t been found since TNGHT’s game-changing debut.
