THE GIG
Gambles, Beliefs - London, Sebright Arms
New Yorker Gambles spent a good chunk of 2012 keeping things quiet. He still holds onto the Twitter name ‘whoisgambles’, harking back to more mysterious days for Matthew Siskin. He’s since arrived with more than a handful of cryptic clues, hearty acoustic strums being crammed into debut ‘Trust’, which is out today. The equally exciting No Pain In Pop signings Beliefs support.
THE SONG
Crowd Shy - Not As It Seemed
As summer reached its hellishly hot depths, an icy cold synth project decided to announce itself. July 30th’s Bulletin hoisted up Crowd Shy as a potential chart-botherer hiding behind a more abstract aesthetic. Jordan Watko’s since unveiled a further shedload of supremely cool songs; half nightclub VIP room without the idiots; the other half a barely lit trip back home in the dead of night. ‘Not As It Seemed’ is like a surefire hit single turned inside out just for the hell of it.
