News The Neu Bulletin (5th October 2012)

Evian Christ and Howl make up Neu’s daily recommendations to nights out and new music.

Neu’s guide to nights out and must hear bands continues, with enough recommendations to render you lifeless - or at the very least, extremely busy. Gigs and tips: We’ve got you sorted.

WHO’S PLAYING WHERE?
Tri Angle singing Evian Christ (above) brings his hazy electronic vibe to London on a Friday night. He joins an exemplary bill, with Koreless and Jacques Greene also set to play sets at the newly renovated XOYO. The closest I’ve ever come to seeing Evian Christ live was in a plug.dj room when he did a guest DJ set, and even then he was pretty spectacular, so he’s bound to play a great set.

WHO’S MAKING WAVES?
There’s something delightfully unconventional about Estère’s music. First of all, her voice is unlike any reality show fame-hungry doppelganger, and the backdrop she places these vocals above is constantly shape-shifting, blending traditional guitar sections with short-lived electronic bleeps. Each song is steeped in style and character: two ingredients bound to make for fascinating pop music. Stream ‘Cruel Charlie’ below:

Howl makes music in his bedroom, but it’s not some lonely activity satisfied through blog hits. He’s now expanded his line-up, having played his debut show at London’s Old Blue Last last month. And the songs, they’re deeper and more dynamic than previous. Indication of a ‘Hart’ EP forthcoming is mighty strong - we’re pinning all our hopes on this guy breaking out of the bedroom and onto the stage more often.
