News The Neu Bulletin (5th September 2012)

Your new music medicine, curated by Neu. Featuring AlunaGeorge and Regal Safari.

It’s a busy night in the capital for gigs, and we’ve also got a taste of Scandi-pop and what used to go by term ‘glo-fi’, but doesn’t anymore, because it’s above cheap tags. Hurrah. Let us persist with today’s guide for all things new music:

WHO’S PLAYING WHERE? Lo-fi grungey shoegaze bands are as regular as the post-9-to-5 punters at London’s Old Blue Last, but expect Entertainment to provide something spectacular. They play tonight with My Sad Captains. Details here.

Deap Vally and Honeyblood - both bands Neu would recommend you check out - form an all-star line-up at Glasgow’s Nice N Sleazy. Tickets here.

Alunageorge are supporting Rustie at London’s Electrowertz. Read our recent interview with the pair here.

Citizens! support Two Door Cinema Club at a sold out date in Birmingham’s The Library at HMV Institute.

WHO’S MAKING WAVES?
Nordic pop fiends, this one’s for you: Sandra Kolstad blends light and dark like the very best Scandinavian pop songstresses can. Not quite as intense as Karin Park or of the ungodly brilliance of Robyn, but gosh it’s set our pulses racing. Crisp production, a refreshing sound; an overall unnervingly emotional ride. ‘Right Now’’s taken from a forthcoming album, out 24th September through Trust Me. Sandra then plays a Ja Ja Ja show at the Lexington in London on 27th September.

FURTHER NEU BUSINESS DIY/Neu favourites Regal Safari have previewed a new EP/full-length/who the hell knows with ‘Veil’, a dreamy atmospheric track that might even go down as the pair’s best to date. On repeat.
