THE GIG
Fimber Bravo, Casual Sex - London, The Social
Two Moshi Moshi signings combine tonight in a Rockfeedback presents show. Trinidadian steel-pan player Fimber Bravo (you heard us) headlines, while the more customary, but equally exciting Casual Sex support. We premiered their ‘Stroh 80’ video just last week.
THE SONG
Club Girls - Fly Ready
Fly Ready by Club Girls
Christen Cappello doesn’t give a shit what you think. Her single’s called ‘I Can Do A Lot’ because, guess what, she can do a lot. Brought to our attention by Crack in the Road, this flipside to the single, ‘Fly Ready’, is supremely confident. It’s pop music with no boundaries. Some people will be warded off by it, others will go giddy for it. If you think DENA’s a bit of a hipster, wait ‘till you find out about Club Girls.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
MOUSTAD - Ivory
Another cocksure bunch are MOUSTAD. Even though English isn’t native tongue, they’ve room in their ‘Ivory’ song to declare ‘we’ll be taking over.’ And even though the songs appearing on their ‘Equestrian Vaulting’ release are deeply referential, there’s enough to suggest world dominance is theirs for the taking. ‘Ivory’ is a fidgety child of a song, jumped up on Sunny D, with Andrew Bird playing it its ears.
