The Neu Bulletin The Neu Bulletin (Cassyette, Piglet, The Let Go and more!)
DIY’s essential, weekly (ish) guide to the best new music.
Neu Bulletins are DIY’s guide to the best new music. They contain every new track by an exciting, emerging artist that’s been played at full volume in the office over the past seven days, whether that’s a small handful or a gazillion gems. Just depends how good the week’s been.
We’ve also got a handy Spotify playlist where you can find all the tracks featured in Neu, so you can listen to all our hot tips in one place: head this way!
Cassyette - Petrichor
When you’ve got Frank Carter bringing you up on stage at Download Festival and telling everyone that you’re “leading a revolution” within rock music, it’s likely you’ve got something a lil’ bit special. And if you weren’t sure about Casyette by those glowing recommendations, then the infectious snarl of ‘Petrichor’ will have you sold. A bold and biting new single, Cassyette’s powerful vocals drive the hard AF song, resulting in a track that packs a serious punch at all levels. (Elly Watson)
Piglet - dan’s note
Swelling from plaintive beginnings to a full explosion of strings, layered vocals and background twinkles, ‘dan’s note’ is both intimate and dense, the end result a sort of pretty cacophony of ideas firing off simultaneously. The nom de plume of Belfast-born musician Charlie Loane, piglet has already been championed by Porridge Radio, who recently collaborated with him on two new tracks; his latest shows the musician is more than capable of going it alone too. (Lisa Wright)
The Let Go - Woke
The latest signees to tastemaker label Chess Club, Liverpool’s The Let Go have made their introduction with sleek single ‘Woke’. With influences ranging from The 1975 to Brockhampton and Dominic Fike, the duo’s love of bedroom-pop, indie and hip-hop is evident in the shapeshifting single. Full of earworm melodies and intriguing sonic licks, it’s an exciting glimpse at what else they’ve got in store. (Elly Watson)
Tasha – Perfect Wife
The first single from Chicago-based artist and poet Tasha’s new album ‘Tell Me What You Miss The Most’, new song ‘Perfect Wife’ is an ode to the simple, devastating pleasure of true love. The music – an indie-rock slow dance full that manages to pull off both grandeur and intimacy at once – perfectly encapsulates the heady rush that comes with an all-encompassing crush. (Will Richards)
KEG - Presidential Walk
Watch out Squid, there’s a new set of challengers to your chaotic, multi-limbed throne. Also hailing from Brighton (and, fittingly, supporting the aforementioned cephalopods on tour), KEG’s newest is a wild and wonky canter through propulsive bass trots, mathy guitar bits and unhinged vocals about former French president Francois Mitterand. Less of a walk and more of a breathless headlong fling, the septet’s latest will leave you needing a rest (in a good way). (Lisa Wright)
TSHA – I Know
After sprinkling a couple of tracks throughout the summer to toast the return of clubs, London DJ and producer TSHA has shared ‘I Know’, the final track to round out her new EP ‘OnlyL’, out now on Ninja Tune. As we’ve come to expect from TSHA, ‘I Know’ is a catchy earworm that has one foot in the club and one reaching for the charts. Chopped up, sampled vocals circle around handclaps and a blissful beat. It sounds like savouring the last drops of summer. (Will Richards)
