Man/Woman/Chainsaw — MadDog
Off the back of the success of 2024’s ‘Eazy Peazy’ EP, Man/Woman/Chainsaw are riding high. And, if latest single ‘MadDog’ is anything to go by, the exciting London group are showing no signs of slowing down in 2025. Loud and dangerous, full of dirty riffs, this is four minutes of unhinged rock’n’roll that throws it back to early ’00s garage and post-punk, while keeping its eyes fixed on the future. An exhilarating track that really justifies the rising sense of hype circling the band. (Chris Connor)
Adore — Show Me Your Teeth
Having signed to Big Scary Monsters with their fangs bared, Irish trio Adore erupt into new territory on ‘Show Me Your Teeth’ — a jagged, high-voltage blast built to shake the walls. Born from five months of sleepless nights and tangled dreams, the track sees Lara Minchin channel pent-up tension into a number that’s all grit and momentum: frantic drums, sharp-edged guitars, and a vocal delivery that cuts straight through. Produced by Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox, it twists between full-force chaos and leaner, tightly wound sections without letting up. A fierce step forward from one of Ireland’s most exciting new bands. (Lucy Ward)
The New Eves — Rivers Run Red
Our favourite eclectic South Coast maidens, The New Eves have returned with new single ‘Rivers Run Red’, as well as officially confirming details of their debut album. A melange of bard-esque flute melody and whirring cello, this latest track spotlights the enchanting vocals and vivid lyricism of New Eve Ella Russell, as the band lead us into a militaristic groove which thickens in instrumental texture. Harmonies are layered over haunting spoken word and intense scale climbing, before the song snaps back into its snare drum-led section for one final exclamation: “Rivers Run Red!“. (Mille Tempo)
Lucky Iris — day to night
A hot new duo emerging from the Leeds DIY scene, Lucky Iris — comprised of Maeve Florsheim and Jasper Hoxley — have presented a taster of their surprise EP via title track ‘day to night’ — a jumpy, eclectic foray into their brand of fast-paced, energetic hyper-pop. A number fuelled by huge synthesisers, choppy vocals, and punchy beats, it marks the pair’s first release of 2025, and sees them channeling the key characteristics of artists such as Confidence Man or Charli xcx. It’s a must-hear, festival-ready track that should be the sound of the Summer. (Kyle Roczniak)
Tummyache — Stop, Drop, Roll
Soren Bryce’s project has always been true to its DIY roots, and Tummyache’s latest foray is no exception. New single ‘Stop, Drop, Roll’ comes hot on the heels of a crowdfunded US tour, and brings much of the energy of those frantic live shows. Combining the atmospheric with the raw, before descending into its own world of noise, it’s at once both a vulnerable confessional and a broadside against modern life. Angry, agitated and loud, this track may be the sound of spiralling, but it manages to land a few punches of its own on the way down, too. (Dylan McNally)
Beattie — Life With Her
Having initially made waves in the live circuit, landing slots at Live At Leeds and Latitude before she even had a single to her name, Beattie has quickly become a hotly tipped newcomer. Now unveiling her debut EP ‘All My Innocence Has Been Ridden’, focus single ‘Life With Her’ reaffirms why she’s been turning heads over recent months. Building from intimate, vocal-led verses into a cascading, riff-driven chorus, it’s a dynamic showcase of the Londoner’s versatility. Arriving off the back of support shows with Good Neighbours and Balancing Act, and ahead of taking to The Great Escape this week, Beattie’s fast securing her sure-fire trajectory towards bigger things. (Emily Savage)
AtticOmatic — Last Journey To Sea
Glistering with a heart-filled intricacy that’s expansive yet unpresuming, like ripples on the water catching the sunlight, AtticOmatic’s ‘Last Journey to Sea’ washes over you with its nuanced beauty until the last solar slither melts back into the horizon line. Weaving twinkling polyrhythmic guitars with skipping bass rhythms, the new track from the Brighton five-piece broods in the dreamiest, most delicate alcoves of indie-rock, lyrically serving as a “mantra” for songwriter Lorcan Forder to overcome their “obsessive thought patterns that surround the idea of death and suicide” as someone living with ADHD. (Hazel Blacher)
