Neu Bulletins are DIY’s guide to the best new music. They contain every single thing that’s been played at full volume in the office, whether that’s a small handful or a gazillion acts. Just depends how good the week’s been.

QTY - Rodeo

A grizzled, effortlessly cool debut, new Dirty Hit signings QTY are cracking the whip with ‘Rodeo’. The only thing tighter than their denim is the knotted guitar lines they wrap around everything in sight, dragging slack-jawed lo-fi back to its former glory.

Vasser - Whatever You Want

Sam Breathwick is the latest producer to use isolation as inspiration. The 18-year-old grew up on the outskirts of Kent, with few venues or local nights to immerse himself in. True to most teens with a laptop and an Internet connection, he downloaded the tools to become a producer, self-taught his own tricks and wound up making ‘Whatever You Want’, a dazzlingly slick track instantly pinning him to the map.

Dannika - Next to You

Sleepyheads rarely announce themselves quite like Dannika’s ‘Next to You’. Opening with the line “rest your head on my bed,” what follows is a series of deft, dreamy guitar parts and all-intimacy declarations. The song’s taken from debut EP ‘For Peaches’, out now on Solitaire Records

Nevermind Me - ‘Strobe Lights’

Taking the mountain-moving sonics of Deftones and their ilk, Nevermind Me’s future-facing take on shoegaze and post-hardcore has been a long time coming. ‘Strobe Lights’ is the perfect introduction to the debut album it’s lifted from - a soaring, spellbinding cut that’s every bit as dazzling as its namesake.

False Advertising - Sigh

Bright and just erring on the right side of bratty, False Advertising’s spiky punk-pop is as confident as they come, on the surface. Jabbing away at your ribs, demanding a response, ‘Sigh’ affixes those more in-your-face tendencies to a more fragile, honest tale of a family falling apart.

Saint Sister - Tin Man

Since Joanna Newsom coated the harp in gold, few have had the guts to apply new ideas to such a coveted instrument. Enter Saint Sister, a duo specialising in serene pop. ‘Tin Man’ covers loss, darkness and despair with harp-speckled detail, and it lands ahead of UK dates with Mutual Benefit this month.

Reckonwrong - The Passions of Pez

Gut-deep vocals and shuffling percussion make up ‘The Passions of Paz’, a stupidly fun new track from shapeshifter Reckonwrong. The track’s taken from a new release on Whities, a sub-label of Young Turks.

Body Type - Ludlow

Scuzz with a slant, the debut track from Sydney four-piece Body Type is an intentionally distorted take on pop. Every note is coated in a thick supply of gooey noise, but burrowed deep within is a straight-up melodic triumph.
