News Tour Diary: Citizens! (Part Eight)

Citizens! make a trip to Bristol in part eight of their tour diary for DIY.

Following on from the band’s stay in Glasgow, Citizens! make a trip to Bristol in part eight of their tour diary for DIY, ‘the best show of the tour’, apparently.

A brief one in Bristol. We spent the majority of the day in a van between Glasgow and Bristol. However we found that our songs and tours are creating a groundswell of support amongst the theatrical community and people are adopting our name to put on performances of new British Writing in halls across Scotland. Probably.

Here is the stage at Start The Bus. Tonight’s show was maybe the best of the tour, it got tight and sweaty and the legendary Jeff Of Bristol played cowbell through the outro of ‘I’m In Love With Your Girlfriend’. A top moment of the tour so far. Check out Jeff’s blog here.

Next door to the venue I saw this postbox and, deeply intrigued, took a photo. If you have any ideas on what it is then let us know. I’m assuming that, post globalisation, all of Britain’s electricity does not come from a small office above a pub in Bristol. But I may be wrong.

We left Bristol pretty late. We sank a few bevies with the lovely support band Coast and also those fine lads in Frankie & The Heartstrings, who had been playing with the Kaisers down the road. I guess Martyn was enjoying having some North East banter at last, tired as he was of our flat southern vowels. However eventually we pined for the capital and all it’s charms and hit the road. Here is the sunrise, captured as i finally staggered home to bed.
