News Tour Diary: Citizens! (Part Seven)

Haggis ready meals, unconscious members of the public and a visit to Filthy McNasty’s”.”

Citizens! are on fine form in their latest tour diary for DIY. This time, the Kitsune darlings head to Scotland for some haggis ready meals, unconscious members of the public and a visit to somewhere called ‘Filthy McNasty’s’. The mind boggles.

My first one delivered on time. Oh yeah! I’m basically a pro now.

This is some Ansell Adams stuff going on now. After six days on tour I’m learning the photographer’s craft. Here is the perfect example of our journey North. One of these busses is going to Edinburgh, one to Glasgow. We follow the later. This photo shows our existential dilemma perfectly.

Scottish people (Mike, my father, Tom’s mum) must find English tourists taking pictures of Haggis ready meals in Tesco very boring, so I apologise. But we were pretty damn hungry and it looked pretty damn good.

We were also pretty damn tired. Here is Mike catching 20 minutes after the drive up from London.

The famous Sauchiehall Street, home of the infamous Filthy McNasty’s. Just before the gig, a guy who had had a few too many brews fell off of his chair outside the local chippy in the pouring rain and knocked himself unconscious. Me and a lovely Italian gentleman stayed with him as human umbrellas until the Ambulance arrived. I’ve been told this isn’t an untypical Sauchiehall Street experience.

In years to come people will trade posters like this on the internet for literally hundreds of pence. We play a career spanning set tonight. Taking in B Sides and unreleased gems from our Norwegian Period.

Back at the hotel I’m about to have a shower when I decide to open the window to let in some fresh air. Low and behold some forward thinking young chap has tucked two Durex into a little nook (for those of you who’ve seen In Bruges, you may call it an ‘alcove’) between the security bars and the window frame. No amount of showering could make me feel clean after this.
