News Tour Diary: Citizens! (Part Three)

Citizens! continue their tour diary for DIY.

Citizens! are currently out on the road before the release of their as yet untitled debut album, due out later this year. Yesterday we heard about the band’s exploits in Paris on day two, today the Kitsune darlings talk us through day three: Paris Part II. Alright for some.

These crisps taste exactly like Cheeseburgers. The main taste thrust is of the humble Gherkin. They look and sound LOADS better than they actually taste.

This is the now famous Tour Manager Grant. (He of the magical car moving skills). His surname is Frampton, his middle name, for real, is Peter. He didn’t write ‘Baby I Love Your Way’, nor did he release the biggest selling live album of the 70s. He is however a lovely, lovely man.

Backstage at the 114 in France (live photos of the gig to follow, once we figure out Tom’s bluetooth connection) and the old fable of the Dog and The Band is played out in that most simple of mediums, the blackboard diagram. None of us can remember if this is one of Aesop’s or Grimm’s but it’s a story all children know well. A lonely dog, a touring band, and an unnecessary, but sweetly starred out expletive. A universal truth that crosses borders and time zones.

French service stations like Chief Wailer Bob as much as we do. The sign asked us to place Marley, so we did, out 3 inches below. We also threw in a picture of a cute labrador. A Citizens! work is never done.

We leave Paris with heavy hearts after the most amazing few days. It’s sooo damn beautiful. You fall in love every few steps. Here is the view from our hostel window at dawn this morning. Some of us were just going to bed, some of us were just waking up, we all agreed that we wanted to sell our souls to the highest bidder, ask Audrey Tautou to marry us and move to an attic room in the 11th Aggraindesment to paint. Please join us.
