News Tour Diary: Citizens! (Part Twelve)
Kitsune’s Citizens! continue their tour diary for DIY.
Today is our first show in Wales. A country we have all loved separately, but will only now address collectively as a band. Despite eagerness to arrive we are late, and here is why!
On the wall of the venue I find this baffling but rather beautiful marker pen graffiti. I show you it here in a bid to gain some belated recognition for the evidently tortured artist. Make it your Facebook profile picture…go on!
This poster was advertising the Simply Rad club night. It reminded me of an old Factory Records poster I once saw that had a picture of Mick Hucknall at it’s centre. Around the periphery was the immortal catch phrase ‘Jesus Loves You, Everyone Else Thinks You’re A C***’. Forgive the foul language, and forgive ME Mick Hucknall cause I really like ‘Money’s To Tight To Mention’ and ‘Stars’. But ‘Fairground’ is the worst song ever so I guess it’s an evens. The main reason to show you this picture was to ask WHAT IS WUFT? Answers on a postcard.
Cardiff is very pretty. Indeed the whole of Wales is. And the people are lovely. Just outside our venue was this beautiful church, and if one popped around the corner you found this awesome statue of godfather of the NHS Aneurin Bevan. Great name, great statue, bloody good ideas. Stick that on your postcard and send it. Okay I will.
The drive back after a lovely Cardiff show was hell. Fog descended from the heavens upon our lonely isolated van, and we ended up in the service station from the end of the world, where people pretending to be ambulance crews stole petrol from kind Dutch Station assistants then flicked the bird at all and sundry, oh, and I totally lost my sense of taste while eating burnt cheese. The good news was, that after months of searching, Martyn finally found a peanut butter Limited Edition Kit Kat. Angels wept.
