News Tour Diary: The Whigs (Part Two - Berlin)

Day 2: Berlin, Germany
Press: Vopo records, bunch.tv; Motor FM 100.6 (Ohrenspiel)

Today we woke-up in Berlin, a city we had never seen before. There was snow everywhere, but we were off to a quick start with a couple of morning press interviews and performances. So, we scarfed down a few slices of pizza in the back seat of a cab on our way to the first stop, Vopo records, a killer little record store that left us with an awesome first impression of Berlin. We got to peak around and shop a bit before our interview with Bunch TV. We played a few tunes on our acoustic guitars, picked out a few records, and then we were back in the taxi and off to take over the airwaves at Motor FM, where Parker was asked to DJ. We returned to the Crystal Club for what would prove to be a suspenseful sound-check, complete with power outages and blown amplifiers. After a series of small explosions, my bass amp was dead. This was troubling because it was actually the spare replacement amp for the other one that blew-up three days ago in Vienna. Nerves ran high. During the excitement Parker took a nap on stage. Finally, after several hours of anxious anticipation, we were loaned an amp, the power was fixed, and we were back in business. Our first Berlin show went off without a hitch, and afterwards we celebrated with a few Berliner Kindls, a little bit of Jack Daniels, and a bag of wasabi potato chips.
