Interview 65daysofstatic

Introducing 65daysofstatic. They want to raise an army of noise kids, and promise to cause DIY viewers ‘inner ear problems’.

Who are you and what do you do?

We are 65daysofstatic. Paul Wolinski, Robb Jonze, Gareth Hughes, Joe Fro. We do glitchy-laptop-guitar-angles with less money than anyone and more volume than sense. We spend most of the time breaking and fixing equipment, and the rest of the time trying to pinpoint the best bits from the best music ever written and splice it to some rhythm that no-one else can hear.

How would you describe your sound?
Like a billion cathedrals. We hear it as pop music, but apparently we’re alone in that. Dustpunk.

What would you say your major influences are?
Kid606/At The Drive-In/Deftones/GSYBE/New Order

Why should we spend our time and money to come see you live?
Because the inner ear problems you’ll wake up with the next day will keep you company throughout whatever the hell it is you have to do for money on a weekday, adding some kind of bruised romance to an otherwise identikit few hours.

What sets you apart from other bands?
The answer: We try not to compare ourselves to other bands. We prefer to just find our own sound and get on with it.

The real answer:
Our electronics have no squiggly bits in them.
Our guitars have no chords in them.
Our drummer has no fear in him.
Our lyrics have no words.

The truth:

Our complete lack of social skills and inability to not be rude to people .

What do you want to achieve in 2004?
We wanna raise a big army of noise kids who are gonna plant a 65 bomb in the heart of pop culture and run around waving their hands in the air until it explodes. And a pair of titanium drumsticks would be cool too.
