In the magazine September 2015

Featuring Foals, Bring Me The Horizon, Kurt Vile, Swim Deep & more.

It shouldn’t be rare for bands to improve with each record, but it’s a strange reality. Foals buck the trend. In the September 2015 issue of DIY, we track down our cover stars in Poland to find out how they’ve achieved it.

Also in the new issue of DIY, Swim Deep show they’re more than just a bunch of mad scientists (although they definitely live up to that billing, too). They tell us how weird studio sessions had them asking producers to record “the sound of a black hole”.

Things don’t get any less surreal with Dublin’s Girl Band, who pen lyrics about Sudocrem and chocolate spread. We meet them in a greasy spoon to grab ‘Pears For Lunch’ while getting behind the madness of debut album ‘Holding Hands With Jamie’.

Elsewhere in the new issue, Bring Me The Horizon lead our Reading 2015 review with a future headliner set. They also discuss new album ‘That’s The Spirit’, which sees them stepping up another gear.

We go in the studio with Hinds, get behind the chill persona of Kurt Vile, get interpretative with Micachu & The Shapes and give introductions to The Japanese House, Haelos and Declan McKenna.

DIY’s September 2015 issue is free from record shops, venues and Dr. Martens stores - out now.
