Bottoms up!
Bands and beverages: The New Pornographers and Jenny Lewis launch own drinks
A coffee and a brand of wine mark the latest artist related drink lines.
The album may be dead, if you listen to some, but it seems the days of the band related beverage are well and truly upon us.
Today brings news of too more artist related drink tie ins. First up, The New Pornographers, who have teamed up with Intelligentsia Coffee to make ‘Brill Brew’, inspired by the Canadian’s first album in four years ‘Brill Bruisers’.
The coffee, described as “cheerful and sweet”, follows a similar recent team up with St. Vincent. Carl Newman of The New Pornographers explains: “As absurd as it may seem for us to have a signature blend, I think it is important that there is some sort of marker, some flag planted in the earth, so that whoever walks into Intelligentsia, whoever drinks this, will know: ‘The New Pornographers really really loved coffee.’”
Each order of the coffee comes with a download of ‘Brill Bruisers’.
They’re not the only ones drinking their way to success, though. Jenny Lewis is in on the act too, launching her own wine.
The Californian red shares the title of her freshly released album ‘The Voyager’, and is made in conjunction with domaineLA. Described as a “blend of carignan, valdiguie and petit sirah”, it comes in at $29.99 and also includes a download of the record.
The New Pornographers’ ‘Brill Bruisers’ is released on August 25th. Jenny Lewis’ ‘The Voyager’ is out now.
