Beach Baby spread their wings on debut single ‘Ladybird’

Beach Baby don’t know much about family roles. They trade between the lines “I wanna be your mother” to “father” to “lover” in the space of a few fleeting seconds. Poor guys probably need some clarification. They do, however, know a thing or two about penning songs that instantly hook into the conscience, breaking free from convention in the process.

They’ve a debut release, ‘Ladybird’, due out 30th March on Chess Club (MØ, Swim Deep). Former in London’s Goldsmiths College, they originally hail from Athens, Dorset and Sheffield respectively.

There’s a folk edge to ‘Ladybird’ - the kind of instant crush Chris Martin will probably seethe with jealousy over - but as the track progresses, it exposes a side that goes beyond stadium ambition. Make no mistake, though, Beach Baby have every means of triumphing in the big leagues.
