Beyonce’s New Album To Feature Justin Timberlake & Pharrell?

It’s been a pretty good week to be Beyoncé. She’s been confirmed to perform at President Obama’s inauguration, will take centre stage at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show and managed to announce that Destiny’s Child were going to unveil their first material together in eight years. And that’s not all: the celebrated songstress has now spoken out about her next album, and just who she may have teamed up with…

As it turns out, it’s only bloody Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. Sheesh!

Speaking to GQ magazine (via Rolling Stone) in their most recent cover story, the singer spoke of the shared history between herself and her collaborators: “We all started in the Nineties when R&B; was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us.” She also added that the likes of Prince, D’Angelo and Diana Ross were huge influences on her as-yet-untitled fifth album.

The interview went on to talk about the new way in which her songwriting process has taken place. Previously, it seems that the songs would be written around the lyrics, whereas with her collaborative work, there is more of a ‘layering process’: “It starts with the title or the concept of what I’m trying to say, and then I’ll go into the booth and sing my idea. Then we work together to layer on.”

Talking about potential themes within her new material, Beyoncé spoke about how ideas can come from anywhere. “Even the silliest little thing that you hear on the radio, it comes from something deeper”, she said. Recalling her Destiny’s Child hit ‘Bootylicious’, Beyoncé noted that the song was inspired by comments about her weight “and me being, like, ‘I’m a Southern woman, and this is how Southern women are.’ My motivation is always to express something or to heal from something or to laugh and rejoice about something.”

Speaking to US press recently, another Beyonce collaborator ‘The-Dream’ revealed that fans are most likely to hear some new material on her Super Bowl performance on 3rd February.
