Bez has successfully registered to stand in the UK general election
Happy Mondays member had trouble registering his party earlier this year, but he’s officially standing.
Bez from Happy Mondays has officially been given permission to stand in the general election.
As NME reports, The Electoral Commission has approved the name of Bez’s party (named ‘We Are The Reality Party’) in time for the May election.
Earlier this year, Bez experienced difficulties in registering when his party - then named the Reality Party - reportedly missed the deadline for registration. It was judged that the Reality Party was too similar in name to the already established Realist party. Since alterations, however, Bez is free to stand in Salford and Eccles.
We Are The Reality Party stands for anti-fracking and free public transport. Bookies are currently giving Bez 25/1 odds of winning a seat in his constituency.
Festival special! Featuring Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Lykke Li, Marmozets, Genesis Owusu and more.
