Black Gold Buffalo search for thrills with ‘Pearls Deep’
The band return as today’s Neu Pick, with the first taster from their debut album.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Black Gold Buffalo.
Remember Black Gold Buffalo? Way back in 2012, the band first emerged with spates of early promise and a few almighty bangers, kept things low-key for a couple of years, and then disappeared again.
But hey, guess what? They’re back! Though Keziah Stilwell still leads the band, she’s backed by a totally different line-up, and their newbie ‘Pearls Deep’ is a slow-burning hunk of smouldering gold. It’s the first taster, say the band, of their first full length record; due out at some point in 2018.
“‘Pearls Deep’ was written on a stormy night, in a tower block somewhere near the A10,” the band tell us over email. “It’s about wanting to escape a brooding mood in the city, to just get up and go somewhere and nowhere. The song was written in London and recorded partly in Ramsgate’s Big Jelly Studios, and is the first material from out debut album”
We’re premiering it here on DIY. Have a listen below.
