Boniface shares the sky-reaching ‘Dear Megan’

The Canadian has also announced a London headline show for November.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Boniface

Canadian newcomer Boniface has impressed us a lot so far this year. From playing our stage at March’s SXSW to coming to the Brudenell Social Club for the Neu stage at Live At Leeds, Micah Visser has shown significant potential with his anthemic, widescreen indie-pop.

New track ‘Dear Megan’ - playing first on DIY as today’s Neu Pick - is his finest yet. The track rolls along with brilliant momentum, channelling Bleachers and Bruce Springsteen in its sky-reaching chorus and radio-ready ambition.

Speaking about the track, Micah says: “This one is special for me. I wrote it when I had just moved out of my parents’ house and I was feeling so overwhelmed and a little bit reckless. It was the middle of summer and I was happy but also filled with a lot of anxiety and it helped to go out and be surrounded by people.

“I was nervous and excited and trying to channel it all into my writing. I think that’s what the song is about really, being overwhelmed by the future but embracing the moment. Really believing in it.”

Boniface has also announced a London headline show for later this year - he’ll play the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on 6th November.

‘Dear Megan’ is out now via Transgressive - listen to it below.
