Neu Pick Candice Gordon brings dark brilliance on ‘Nobody’
The Berlin-based singer is releasing her debut album in September.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Candice Gordon.
The Dublin-born, Berlin-based Candice Gordon makes deeply atmospheric, twisted takes on goth, punk and garage. It makes a great deal of sense, then, that she recorded her first EP with Pogues legend Shane MacGowan, who now acts as her mentor-of-sorts.
Gordon is releasing her debut album ‘Garden of Beasts’ via Proper Octopus Records on 8th September, and its first single ‘Nobody’ is a particularly savage first example of said beasts.
The singer’s voice bursts out in flourishes, carrying a frightening amount of momentum along with it.
